The inside of Steve Ballmer’s underpants glisten with pre-cum whenever he thinks about Kinect, if his latest statements were made with any degree of sincerity. The hyperactive Microsoft creature has declared that his company’s motion sensing thing is the “next generation” of the Xbox 360. He then gave it a tonguebath.
“The device that I’m most keen on … is the next generation of the Xbox 360,” he says, while talking about Kinect. You control everything on your television screen, and content interaction with friends is happening in the cloud.
“It is a smart device that is processing me,” he added. “It gives us the ability to have a natural user interface. And you can participate in games with friends across the globe.”
Microsoft really does seem to believe that Kinect is the answer to every problem in the world, but the marketing smacks of desperate cloying. Something tells me that if Kinect were as brilliant as Microsoft says it is, then Microsoft wouldn’t need to say it and could just let the product speak for itself.
The proof, of course, shall come with its release, but this thing has just looked worse and worse since its impressive debut in 2008 at Project Natal. I’m really curious to see how it performs.
