Battlefield 1’s upcoming beta doesn’t require PS Plus, but it needs Xbox Live Gold

Beta starts on August 31

If you have “Insider Early Access,” you’re already happily participating in Battlefield 1‘s beta session, which features the Sinai Desert map. For the rest of you, you’ll have to wait until August 31, when it hits open status. It’ll feature two modes — the classic 64-player Conquest, and a 24-player Rush Mode with objectives to take down.

Just in case you were wondering, yes, you will need Xbox Live Gold to partake in the beta session. But if you’re on PS4, you can play without Plus. I’ve been happy with Battlefield 1 so far, even if it hasn’t blown me away. The destructible environments are a joy, and the setting, while not wildly different, is enough to keep me interested.
