Michael Bay, eat your heart out
If you’ve ever played Battlefield 3, rest assured that EA has tracked everything you’ve done online and turned you into a statistic — a pretty cool statistic at that. According to a report from VentureBeat, every day EA collects more than 1 terabyte of data about the habits of Battlefield 3 players across all platforms.
Some of the more interesting ones are that every 15 minutes, players throw 3.9 million grenades, destroy 648,000 vehicles, and create 24 million explosions. Over the duration of 24 hours, that’s more than 2.3 billion explosions.
Of course, EA probably isn’t collecting all of that data for fun. There’s a good chance it has something to do with their plans to bombard players with microtransactions.
