Battlefield 3 won’t look as good on PS3, DICE says ‘duh’

Last night, PS3 footage of Battlefield 3 was shown off on Jimmy Fallon’s televisual broadcast, and Butthurt Levels were reported at maximum capacity. Apparently, the visuals of a game on a $300 console don’t look as good as visuals running on a mighty gaming computer. DICE’s response? Who seriously expected them to?

“Why would anyone expect that console would look the same as PC? If that was the case we would have failed with the PC version,” Tweeted rendering architect Johan Andersson.

Bear in mind that the PS3 version didn’t look bad by any stretch of the imagination. It just didn’t look as eyefuckingly amazing as the PC version. Most sensible people would have already ascertained that, but I’m sure DICE has already been accused of “bias” a thousand times since the footage was shown.

The version running was also pre-Alpha, so expect more graphical improvements. In the meantime, do check out the heated Youtube thread on the subject. You’ll notice most of them are outraged because the smoke particles don’t look as good. WON’T SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE SMOKE PARTICLES!?
