By Pid developer, Might and Delight
Pid was one of the most charming games I played in 2012, so it’s no surprise that developer Might and Delight’s next project, Shelter, focuses on the most mighty and delightful creature in the animal kingdom: the crazy nastyass badger. This peculiar third-person adventure is planned for late summer release on PC and Mac.
Shelter follows a mother badger who is forced out of her shelter and must protect her litter of cubs from the harsh reality of nature. “Shelter aims to pay a homage to the great outdoors and all its imposing beauty,” the developer wrote on its YouTube description.
I’m not sure what to make of this one. Pid was a clever, self-aware game, but the tone of Shelter‘s trailer and synopsis seems unaware that badgers are silly as hell — I’m pretty sure they place right above sloth and platypus. The game claims to be an “emotional journey” but the emotion I have when I think about badgers is laughter.
