Cyberpunk 2077 has been out for PC players for a while now, and so have mods for it. Massive RPGs already draw a crowd when it comes to custom content, and fittingly, there’s no shortage of mods for Cyberpunk 2077.
But when it comes to altering or enhancing your Night City life, there are a lot of options. Some let you fine-tune the settings, others give you more cosmetic choices, and the most extreme even add whole features to CD Projekt Red’s massive world. So, where to start?
Well, we’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite Cyberpunk 2077 mods that are worth trying out. They run the gamut from mild alteration to overhaul, and should give you plenty of the variety you’re seeking in Night City. Here’s some to look out for.
Immersive First Person
This one’s pretty basic, but effective. It makes V’s body more present in first-person, letting you look down and get a good gander at torso, legs, and even toes. That’s already nice for the fashion-minded, but also, this mod adds a free-look component. Now you can look around without wagging your gun about! Simple, effective, and a neat feature to tack on. Find it on NexusMods here.
Virtual Atelier (and related mods)
Virtual Atelier is a single mod that opens up a lot of extra potential for other Cyberpunk 2077 mods. Essentially, Virtual Atelier lets modders add their own virtual stores to Cyberpunk 2077. This offers not just potential for your own mods, but a legion of others. Everything from new clothing to weapon mods and more can be bought through other players’ Virtual Atelier shops. It’s a great way to add more variety to your shopping experience.
Better Vehicle Handling
Look. We all know the vehicles in Cyberpunk 2077 do not handle well. We might all have adjusted to it, on different levels, but it’s rough. Better Vehicle Handling attempts to do just what it says: gives vehicles better handling. Your results may vary, but hopefully this results in fewer traffic issues for your time in Night City.
Romance Enhanced
A big part of Cyberpunk 2077 for some players is the romantic aspect. Not only are there four companions you can romance, that all have pretty great side quest lines, but you’ll also get a new place to lay your head at the end of the day. The Romance Enhanced mods for Cyberpunk 2077 add even more interactions and variety to everyday life with your chosen partner, including a daily routine so they’re not always doing the same thing when you come over. There are mods for Judy, Panam, River, and Kerry.
Night City Interactions
Romance is one thing, but what about just chilling with some pals and a drink? That’s where Night City Interactions comes in. This mod lets you stop at various locations and have a drink while observing a nice vista. You can also bring along one of your romantic interests, or Jackie, depending on what part of the game you’re in. There’s even a nice relaxation spot for every episode of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. And trust me, that’s not the only Edgerunners content on this list.
AI Netrunners Enhanced
While Netrunners can be a threat in the base game, they don’t exactly have the magical tech-wizard ‘oomph’ that V does when it comes to hacking. AI Netrunners Enhanced buffs up the game’s netrunners, to give you a bit more of a challenge against the web-inclined. It adds a number of enemy netrunner hacks they can lob at you, including Short Circuit, Reboot Optics, Cyberware Malfunction, Synapse Burnout, and more. It’s nice if you’re looking for a little more challenge that feels in-line with the universe.
Let There Be Flight
Alright, we’ve talked about love, hacks, and beautiful views. Let’s talk about the really good stuff: flying cars. We were promised them by The Jetsons and never got them, but now in virtual Night City, through the power of Cyberpunk 2077 mods, we can fly a car. Let There Be Flight looks pretty darn cool, and lets you really get around the city in style while avoiding all that pesky traffic. It’s a straightforward mod, but it’s a flying car. What more needs to be said?
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners mods
The Netflix and Studio Trigger animated show Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was a runaway success, arguably responsible for getting a lot of people re-interested in Cyberpunk 2077 in the process. It should be little surprise, then, that there’s a bevy of Edgerunners mods on sites like NexusMods for your perusal. While you can get some in-game goodies like David’s jacket and Rebecca’s shotgun just through base 2077, mods let you capture the look and style of the memorable cast. You can find a good round-up of some here.
Cyberpsychosis
Speaking of Edgerunners, cyberpsychosis is a real problem for chromed-out edgerunners in Night City. It’s not so much a problem for V, though. And while the upcoming Phantom Liberty is looking to up the dangers of cyberware for players, this Cyberpsychosis mod makes it all too present, here and now. Beware the over-chrome.
Rideable metro mod
For all its neon lights, loud music, and over-the-top aggression, the peak of Cyberpunk 2077 is its setting: Night City. I don’t always love the game, but I do love hanging out in its world. And one way to make that world feel even more alive and present through Cyberpunk 2077 mods is one that simply makes the metro function. The Metro System mod for Cyberpunk 2077 lets you, and V, simply ride around on the metro. Maybe it can make your playthrough feel more immersive, as you have to use public transit to get around. Or maybe you just want to see Night City from a different point of view. The functional metro is one of my favorite additions to Cyberpunk through the mod scene, and it reminds us all that a nice little moment of Zen amidst the chaos is its own reward.
