Starfield presents an overwhelmingly vast universe to explore, and it’ll be a while before all its secrets are uncovered. Like past Bethesda games, Starfield is highly moddable, and already plenty of mods have been released that improve the game’s UI and gameplay or add some useful features. Currently, mods are only available on PC, though they could arrive on Xbox should Bethesda bring back Creation Club.

1. StarUI inventory

Starfield‘s UI can be quite complicated, but that’s hard to avoid when there are so many items in your inventory and so much information to sort through. StarUI inventory vastly improves the UI experience by changing how menus are displayed to give you more information at a glance. There are also plenty of welcome minor changes such as the inclusion of a larger scroll bar.

2. Starfield Performance Optimizations

As you’d expect from a modern AAA open-world game, Starfield taxes PCs quite heavily, and the Steam Deck has a tough time trying to play it. The Starfield Performance Optimizations mod promises a 10%+ GPU performance gain.

3. Achievement Enabler

By using cheats and mods, you typically disable achievements. If this is an issue for you, grab the Achievement Enabler mod which ensures you can keep cracking achievements even if you’ve heavily modded Starfield.

1. Less Spongy Enemies

Starfield‘s gunplay is pretty fun, and all the weapons feel satisfyingly impactful. Though enemy AI is okay, foes can sometimes be frustrating sponges that take way too many bullets. If you’d prefer gameplay that’s a little more realistic, try the Less Spongy Enemies mod.

2. Easy Digipick

Using Digipicks to crack locks is fun, but not all players enjoy the experience. If you want to easily break into any room and open any safe, use the Easy Digipick mod which lets you easily breeze through the Digipick minigame.

3. Easy Speech

Oftentimes, you have the option to avoid combat if you manage to persuade your foes to not pick up arms. This isn’t an easy process, and it requires you to pick the right responses. If you’re finding this a little too frustrating, try the Easy Speech mode which gives you a 100% success rate for all conversations requiring persuasion.

Best Starfield visual mods

Starfield presents a stunning universe that’s yours to explore. It’s visually impressive, but you may wish to fine-tune a few things. That’s possible with these mods.

Starfield Upscaler mod.

1. Starfield Upscaler

Bethesda opted to go with FSR2 for the game’s upscaling. It gets the job done, but there are plenty of players who prefer NVIDIA’s DLSS. You can have the DLSS experience with Starfield Upscaler which replaces FSR with DLSS or XESS.

2. Neutral LUTs

Some players have complained that Starfield‘s visual filters are a bit too distracting and ruin the game’s aesthetic. If you’re one of these players, you may be interested in the Neutral LUTs mod. This will remove the game’s visual filters, which makes it easier to achieve a deep shade of black on your screen.

3. Starfield FOV

You may have found that by default, Starfield has quite a narrow FOV. The Starfield FOV mod expands your field of view in both first and third-person modes. This is one mod that needs to make it to Xbox as soon as possible.

Bullet Time mod in Starfield.

4. Bullet Time

Perhaps the coolest mod on the list, Bullet Time lets you control gameplay speed with a hotkey. This turns gunfights into epic action sequences if you slow things down. You can also increase speed to make exploration go faster.

There’s also plenty of mods that don’t improve anything but can add a bit of humor. This includes the mod that adds Todd Howard’s face to the flashlight beam.
