The Trumna is a powerhouse of a weapon. It’s basically an explosive minigun that excels in critical damage and status chance. Pair that with the type of damage types it has baked into it, you can deal some serious damage with it on your next mission. Here, we’ll go over how to use the Trumna and what kind of builds you should use on it in Warframe.
Best Trumna builds in Warframe
Since the Trumna has innate heat damage in both its actual projectile and radial attacks, we’re going to focus on amplifying the elemental procs. We’ll also focus on amplifying crits, making this a hybrid weapon.
The following is a general build that can be taken into most missions in Warframe. If you want to change some mods out to better suit your play style, we’ll also list some alternatives for mods.
- Galvanized Chamber
- Alternatives: Split Chamber, Vigilante Armaments
- Serration
- Alternatives: Amalgam Serration
- Vital Sense
- Alternatives: Hammer Shot
- Hunter Munitions
- Alternatives: Internal Bleeding, Firestorm / Primed Firestorm, Bladed Rounds, Argon Scope
- Point Strike
- Alternatives: Critical Delay
- Galvanized Aptitude
- Alternatives: Heavy Caliber
- Vigilante Supplies (optional)
- Rime Rounds*
- Malignant Force*
The reason for Rime Rounds and Malignant Force having asterisks (*) is due to the fact that they are interchangeable with the other 60/60 elemental mods to increase damage and status chance. For the purpose of this build, we chose those two to make a viral combination.
Since the Trumna already has innate heat damage, it’s good against enemies with red health. What the game doesn’t tell you is that it also strips enemy armor (the yellow health) by 50%, making it a very powerful damage type to have. With the addition of viral damage to this build, this status will make enemies take even more damage with each subsequent hit. Pair viral and heat together. What you now have is a weapon that shreds armor, base health, and shields.
For newer players, it’s going to take some time until you have access to the Galvanized mods. The kill conditions on them make the weapon even more deadly. However, the alternative mods we listed can still make this weapon pack a punch.
On our list of alternative mods, you may have noticed that AoE boosting mods were recommended. That is to boost the weapon’s potential splash damage thanks to its innate explosive projectiles and the big charged shot. This becomes a bit less useful in higher-level content since you want to have more damage, but it is still good for what it is.
Lastly, this weapon does have one big weakness— its reload speed. The Trumna has a 3.8-second reload speed, creating a lot of downtime between reloads. You can put a mod to offset that or use the toxin variant of Chroma’s Elemental Ward to not use up a mode space. It’ll be even more wise of a choice given that you can use the Helminth system to put that onto your Warframe of choice!
