Brain Age: Concentration Training makes you feel dumb

Your memory skills are pathetic

The latest entry in Nintendo’s line of brain training software, Brain Age: Concentration Training, released to practically no fanfare whatsoever back on February 10. I think it’s safe to say that the “brain age” craze has long since died. Besides, $30? The original was a sensible $20, which I’d consider the max price if you want those impulse purchases.

But my God, does it look like it will kick your ass. Some of the new “Devilish” exercises will displaya sequence of shapes or math expressions one after another then ask you to recall an entry from several lines back. The better your performance, the further back you are asked to recall.

In the above video, Nintendo invited two-time US memory champion Nelson Dellis to flex his brain matter. As a Grand Master of Memory, Dellis was able to recall entries up to 30 spots up the list as though he was remembering his birthday. Since I highly doubt any of our staff or regular readers are Grand Masters themselves, his performance ought to make you feel like the biggest dumb-dumb-dummy head in Dumbsville.
