If you’re familiar with brilliant pop music, then you might assume that the headline of this post refers to the original leader of The Beach Boys — and you might then feel really confused. No, the Brian Wilson in question is the closer for the World-Champion San Francisco Giants, and 2K Sports has signed him as a creative consultant for a series of short films being produced to promote the publisher’s upcoming baseball videogame, Major League Baseball 2K11.
Wilson’s not just acting in an advisory capacity for these vignettes, though; he’s co-writing, starring in, and ad-libbing performances in the clips. He’s appearing tonight on George Lopez’s talk show, Lopez Tonight, and he’ll be showing the first short film while he’s on the show. He’s a real character — witness his sea captain getup in the photo above, a costume worn in preparation for his appearance — so I’m interested to see what he does with Lopez.
If you want to check out Wilson and the MLB 2K11 short film, tune in to Lopez Tonight in one hour: 12 AM EST (11 PM CST) on TBS. MLB 2K11 itself will be out for PS3, 360, Wii, PC, PSP, PS2 on March 8th. Check the gallery for a screenshot of Wilson’s trademark post-save gesture in the game.
