The akimbo WSP Stinger has huge sleeper potential in Warzone

A new challenger has entered the ring.

All eyes are on the HRM-9 for being the best short-range meta weapon in Warzone, but players are overlooking the Akimbo WSP Stinger.

The HRM-9 is officially the most popular SMG in Warzone and undoubtedly one of the strongest weapons for up close and personal gunfights. According to WZ Ranked, the HRM-9 is the second most used weapon in Warzone with a 16 percent pick rate. In comparison, the next-best SMG only has a six percent pick rate. Weapon selection rates are usually a pretty good indicator of which weapons are best for any given season, but that isn’t quite the case in Season 3.

As part of the most recent seasonal update, the WSP Stinger received a buff that increased the Akimbo rear grip’s fire rate from 600 rpm to 750. The upgraded bullet velocity improved the WSP Stinger’s time-to-kill speed right below 500 milliseconds, the fastest in Warzone. This weapon’s range is only around 10 meters, which will take some getting used to. In addition, the dual SMGs can only carry a 32-round magazine, which both hold the WSP Stinger back. But we still believe that it has a chance to be one of the best short-range options in Season 3.

Best WSP Stinger loadout in Warzone Season 3

  • Muzzle: S-37C DL Breacher Device S
  • Barrel: HISS Short Light Barrel
  • Laser: XTEN Sidearm-L400
  • Magazine: 32 Round Mag
  • Rear Grip: Akimbo WSP Stinger

Our loadout is tailored to bring the most out of the Akimbo rear grip attachment. Aiming down sights is not an option for an Akimbo attachment, so there is no need to worry about improving ADS speed. The S-37C DL Breacher Device S and XTEN Sidearm-L400 both improve hip-fire accuracy. Meanwhile, the HISS Short Barrel improves bullet velocity and damage range, while the 32-Round Mag makes it possible to most likely down two enemies before needing to reload. An added benefit of the WSP Stinger is players will be able to use this loadout in underwater combat. Primary weapons don’t have that same luxury.

This loadout won’t equate to immediate success. Using the WSP Stinger Akimbo requires a much different skillset and play style than users are most likely used to. A short damage range means you will have to get very close to an enemy to leave any dent, and we recommend carrying throwing knives to compensate for the small magazine size. But when you master this weapon, we expect the WSP Stinger to be phenomenal in Warzone.
