Feel like some good old fashioned “killing people for the amusement of a fictitious audience” kind of entertainment but you just can’t reach your copy of The Club? Well, ACONY Games might have your fix, good sir or madam.
Fresh from ACONY Games, Lead Level Designer Mark Mussler shows off some of the work on their upcoming free-to-play FPS Bullet Run. The header shows off “Shanty,” set in an abandoned town on the American west. When I first watched this flythrough, all I can keep thinking about the similarities in color palette, textures and design elements are to Gears of War 2’s multiplayer map “Nowhere.”
Here, we get to take a closer look at “Oilrig”. I like their use of multiple vertical levels to add some gameplay variety, and along with the addition of explosive cover spots, this map is looking pretty interesting.
With that being said, I still think that the visual appeal to Bullet Run is where it’s lacking the most. Maybe I have played far too many modern day military-style FPSs and I have become a bit jaded to them, but if I can’t tell the difference between your game and another free-to-play military FPS from screenshots than maybe you need to change something. Just a thought.
