Alas, Guardians, we can no longer break the rules like Savathûn wanted. Bungie fixed an issue in Destiny 2 that allowed players to earn double rewards from the Dual Destiny mission, which meant two rolls on the Prismatic-based Exotic class item.
Dual Destiny is an Exotic mission that arrived with The Final Shape. Within, players team up with another Guardian to complete several cooperative puzzles and encounters. At the end of the mission, players are rewarded with a random roll on their Prismatic class item, but it didn’t take long for the community to discover a sneaky tactic.
If both players involved were the same Class, Guardians could coordinate with the other player to pick up the same reward simultaneously. That allowed the team to grab another roll on the untouched class item, so long as they ran to the edge of the map to get out-of-bounds teleported back in. Now, that’s no longer the case, as Bungie has patched the exploit.
In Bungie’s June 25 update notes, the studio simply said, “Fixed an issue where it was possible to earn double Exotic class items.” While there wasn’t much in the way of detail, the result is clear: players will have to lean on other methods to farm the Exotic class item roll they’re looking for.
Players will still need to unlock Dual Destiny and complete it at least once for the Exotic class items to start dropping in the Pale Heart, but it looks like there’s now less of a reason to repeatedly run the mission itself — especially if you can’t consistently find a partner to run with. That said, the Exotic class items can and will drop from any chest opened within the Pale Heart; it just might require a bit more hunting time.
