But will it have a no-scope montage?
Devolver Digital Films has announced a Call of Duty documentary named CODumentary. The feature-length documentary will detail the origins of the Call of Duty series from its creation in 2003 by Infinity Ward, to dealing with competition within the WWII shooter market at the time, as well as covering the rise and fame of the series and massive mainstream success after the release of Modern Warfare.
The documentary was written, directed, and produced by Jonathan Beales and was filmed across the globe from North America, the UK, to the D-Day beaches themselves. CODumentary is looking to tell the story of the developers, professional players, and fans alike across over 15 years of history within the series.
“It’s been a great five-year journey and though documentary is centered on video games, the story is always about the human input and endeavor involved,” said Beales. “The rich experiences of developing games, playing them or waiting in line to buy them will always remain center stage.”
CODumentary is set to release worldwide through the Steam store and VOD via Amazon on September 19, 2017, following up with releases on other platforms including: iTunes, Google Play, Mgo, PlayStation, Xbox, TubiTV, Indie Reign, and the Indie Rights Vimeo Channel. There will also be a Blu-ray/DVD release in the future with dates not yet announced at this time.
