Treyarch has players putting on their detective hats to piece together the puzzle after releasing a creepy teaser video for the upcoming Call of Duty title.
Treyarch created a new website domain called the truth lies. When you go on to the website, a video on a CRT shows a group of people climbing Mount Rushmore and putting blindfolds over the former presidents’ faces with “the truth lies” written on the first three. The fourth blindfold has what will presumably be the logo for the next title. Since the TV on the website only goes up to Channel 6, this strongly hints at the title being Call of Duty Black Ops 6.
As Call of Duty fans play around more with the TV on the website and pick through the video with a fine-tooth comb, more teasers will undoubtedly be discovered. There will reportedly be a full reveal for the next Call of Duty at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9 at 10 AM PT. Knowing Treyarch, more teasers are likely on the way.
This particular video coincidentally arrives one day after Ubisoft launched its 6v6 arena shooter, XDefiant. Ubisoft executive producer and former Call of Duty dev Mark Rubin has previously shot down any comparisons or competition between the two titles. Still, it’s hard to overlook the timing of the video, as Call of Duty briefly steals the spotlight back for a moment.
As for when players can get their hands on the upcoming title, rumors suggest that Black Ops 6 will launch in late October. The new Call of Duty is expected to be available on PlayStation, PC, and Xbox, and there’s a lot of speculation around whether it may also come to Game Pass.
