Factions can be a very important part of Starfield. You will join the faction Constellation by default simply playing through the main missions. But, once you start exploring the galaxy, you will also have the ability to join a few other factions: the United Colonies Vanguard, the Freestar Rangers, Ryujin Industries, and the Crimson Fleet. There are also three religious factions: the House of the Enlightened, Sanctum Universum, and The Va’ruun. However, it’s not possible to join these three factions other than choosing them as a trait when creating a character. With several available factions, you may be wondering if you can join multiple factions in Starfield.
Can you join every faction in Starfield?
Yes, you can join every faction in Starfield. There is no limit to joining other factions, in fact. You can join one faction, then immediately go and join another one right after. This even applies where factions are against each other. For example, you can join the United Colononies Vanguard, and then join the Crimson Fleet right after. There are no direct penalties for joining any factions, and simply joining another faction will not affect your status with another.
However, once you get deep into the storylines for certain factions, it can be a bit trickier. For example, once you get deep into the UC Vanguard questline you have some missions that can definitely affect your ability to progress further in the Crimson Fleet faction. If you want to do both of these factions, you may want to consider leaving one of them for an NG+ playthrough.
How do you leave a faction in Starfield?
Unfortunately, there’s no actual way to leave a faction in Starfield. That being said, there’s never any penalty for being in a faction. If you no longer want to do anything for a specific faction, that’s fine; just stop doing their missions. You are not forced to complete any faction missions, so leaving a faction is essentially equivalent to just stopping to work for them.
