Canadian theater chain Cineplex plans to start catering to the eSports crowd. Cineplex theaters will show the documentary All Work All Play: The Pursuit of Esports Glory followed by “a casual Esports competition between audience members inside the theatres.” Casual eSports seems like an oxymoron to me.
Cineplex is hoping by holding various gaming-related screenings, it can build up interest in holding gaming events at its theaters. Pretty cool to see eSports becoming more and more mainstream, and theaters make a bit more sense than putting eSports on TV considering there are plenty of ways to already get Twitch on your television.
