What’s happening with Lost Planet 2‘s multiplayer? Funny you should ask. Capcom has been quick to point out how great the game’s co-op is — if you’ve played the demo you know that, yes, it is pretty great — but we haven’t heard a whole lot on the state of its competitive modes.
*Dun dun*
Until now. Over on Capcom-Unity, the hippest place this side of the Net, they have got a few key details to share about the multiplayer in Lost Planet 2. Here they are, minus the pretty (albeit tiny) pictures:
- Up to 16-player Multiplayer modes and online ranking system
- Players will have hundreds of different ways to customize their look to truly help them define their character on the battlefield both on- and offline. Certain weapons can also be customized to suit individual player style.
- Players will receive rewards for assisting teammates and contributing to the team’s success.
- Based on fan feedback, the team has implemented an unbelievable variety of Vital Suits and new ways to combat VSs. The new VS system will have a powerful impact on the way the player takes to the war zone in Lost Planet 2.
Melting the skin off a salamander with Topher was one of my favorite online gaming moments this year. I know quite a few people loved the multiplayer in the original Lost Planet, so this should be music to their ears. It’s sounding like a logical progression of what made that specific online scene great.
