There’s no escape
Resident Evil 7 just released today, and it’s getting quite the positive reception. Capcom’s not content to rest on its laurels, though. It’s rapid-firing the expansions before people have a chance to forget about the game.
Today, Capcom outlined its initial DLC plans for Resident Evil 7. Here are the unminced descriptions of both Banned Footage Vol. 1 and Vol. 2:
Banned Footage Vol. 1
- Bedroom: Figure out how to escape from a locked room – but don’t let Marguerite Baker know you’ve been out of bed.
- Nightmare: Fend off waves of enemies and survive until morning.
- Extra Mode — Ethan Must Die: A tough-as-nails mode separate from the tapes and story of the main game. (Does not support PSVR)
Banned Footage Vol. 2
- 21: Gamble life and limb in a deadly game run by Lucas Baker.
- Daughters: See what the Baker family was like before the tragic events of Resident Evil 7 biohazard.
- Extra Mode — Jack’s 55th Birthday: Race against the clock and feed Jack tons of food in this comical extra game mode separate from the tapes and story of the main game. (Does not support PSVR)
Capcom has struck a time-exclusivity deal with PlayStation for both add-ons. Vol. 1 releases on PS4 on January 31 (one week from today), and on PC and Xbox One on February 21. That DLC runs $10. Vol. 2 launches on PS4 on February 14 and the other two platforms on February 21; that means that both Banned Footage add-ons come to PC and Xbox One on the same day.
It’s a quick start, but that isn’t the extent of the Resident Evil 7 DLC. There’s still an unannounced paid chapter and the free Not a Hero add-on. Just when you thought it was over, the Bakers have even more untold horrors for you.
