CES 2008: Bill Gates’ huge announcement is that he knows Slash

For gamers waiting for the rumored Earth-shattering Xbox 360 news, tuck the kids in and go to bed. If it’s coming at all at this year’s CES, it sure isn’t happening tonight.

At this year’s press conference, Microsoft’s Bill Gates and Robbie Bach busted out some Guitar Hero to close out the night. Originally set up as a duel between the two Microsoft execs, Bach instead called out “Guitar Hero Champion” Kelly Law-Yone, who played through the opening riff of Guns N’ Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle” on the game’s expert mode. Not to be outdone, Gates revealed his big guns — Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, who entered the stage in a cloud of smoke while playing the the game song on one of those “real guitars” we keep hearing about.
