Rebooting a classic franchise isn’t anything new. But who’d have thought Choplifter would get the high definition treatment? That’s exactly what inXile Entertainment is doing with Choplifter HD, which will get its first public, hands-on debut at Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle this week.
We have the first look at the game in action, with a trailer packed with the good stuff: gunfire and explosions. Oh, and a few lives are saved along the way. Choplifter HD sticks true to the “rescue” formula of the original, taking a few modern liberties along the way. inXile says the game will feature more than 30 rescue missions that will have players doing everything from extracting military prisoners to saving survivors from a viral outbreak… and shaking zombies off their chopper in the process.
As a bonus, expect to see some familiar faces making appearances in Choplifter HD; both Duke Nukem and Super Meat Boy are already confirmed.
Choplifter HD is scheduled for a fall release on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and PC.
