Even though Cities: Skylines 2 shows great promise, it also suffers from various performance issues that developer Colossal Order Ltd. was aware of before its release. The company decided not to miss the intended release date for the game despite possible problems but has since adopted a different stance. Colossal just announced that the DLC will be delayed while the company works on fixing the game’s performance troubles.

In a long developer note, Colossal Order informs of the company’s main goals moving forward. In summation, those are:

Performance improvements – which will focus on getting better GPU performance. The current version of the game infamously features too much detail, and fans have criticized it for rendering stuff as useless as teeth that you never see. The teeth are, reportedly, not the issue, but the team is aware that the performance needs improving.

Bug fixes the developers are working hard on over 100 instances of reproducible bugs reported by the community.

Editor and Mod support – the developers are working on improving the map editor as well as its interface before they do a proper release.

Cities Skylines 2 post-launch roadmap

The company doesn’t have a release date for the upcoming content but has presented a broad window.
