It’s always lovely to see a fan-made mod or project go completely industry on our asses and become a standalone product. League of Legends immediately comes to mind as the most recent, well-known example of this. With a little luck, Fall from Heaven might just reach a similar status.
I have played an ungodly amount of Civilization IV, yet not once did I ever become curious enough to try out any of the mods for the soul-devouring strategy game. Fall from Heaven is one such mod I totally didn’t play, and word on the street is that the next installment in the series will be a standalone affair.
Watching videos of this for the first time while I type — I’m not normally this dickish, I swear — I get the impression that the mod could greatly appeal to an audience of fantasy-lovin’ players who aren’t necessarily into Civ IV. If that’s the case, the decision to do a spinoff of sorts is a wise one. Who here has played it?
