Maybe I’ll find on my way down the line that I’m free
This week, the retro purists of Hamster have dug into their bag of classic SNK titles and pulled out the medieval action-adventure Crossed Swords, which is available to purchase now on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
Galivanting into arcades in 1990, before being ported to the home Neo Geo market a year later, Crossed Swords is an over-the-shoulder (or should that be through-the-shoulder?) title that is similar in style the SNK’s own The Super Spy, although it trades in the guns and espionage action for a dungeons and dragons theme.
The player controls a wireframe model of their brave knight and battles a myriad of weird creatures and fellow steel-suited warriors. Magic, weapon upgrades and special attacks can help you out in a pinch as you battle through several chapters to rescue the fair princess of Belkana from the demon lord, Nausizz.
Crossed Swords is available now on PS4 in Japan and on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch worldwide.
