Creator of PaRappa The Rapper launches new music game on iPod Posted 7 August 2007 by David Houghton Recommended VideosWith music-based games currently enjoying a massive profile thanks to the likes of Guitar Hero and Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan/Elite Beat Agents, you might have expected father of the genre and creator of PaRappa The Rapper and Vib-Ribbon Masaya Matsuura to hit one of the big next gen machines with his latest project. What you might well not have expected was for him to put out a one-button portable game for the humble iPod, but that’s exactly what he’s done. Working in conjunction with the tracks on the iPod, Musika presents the player with a screen full of swirling particles made up of everything from leaves to flower petals to neon lights. When the visuals condense to form a letter of the alphabet included in the tune’s title, the player hits a button to score points. And that’s about it. It sounds less than enthralling admittedly, but looked upon in context as an on-the-bus time waster or interactive visualization program it could work very nicely indeed. Check out the video anyway, and see whether you think it’s worth the $5 it’ll cost you on iTunes.
