‘Wait a minute, hockey season ended months ago…’
Publisher Bromio, (of Pato Box fame), has announced a release date for a new retro-infused cyberpunk adventure, put together by indie outfit Mecha Studios. Neon City Riders launches this Thursday on PC and consoles and looks like a cathartic bit of the old ultraviolence.
Players don the sinister hockey mask of Rick, (no, not that one), a vigilante who has grown sick and tired of his humble ‘berg of Neon City being overrun by ruthless gangs. And so, armed with some meaty powers and whatever weaponry he can lay his grubby mitts on, Rick takes to the streets in ’80s action movie fashion, determined to clean up the city once and for all. As you can see from the trailer below, Neon City Riders blends its cyberpunk overtones with high levels of fantasy and magic.
Neon City Riders is an open-world adventure which allows players to explore Neon City’s crime-ridden zones, and take down the gangsters who’re ruling the night. Daubed in an ’80s/’90s gaming aesthetic, with a soundtrack to match, Rick battles through each area, unlocking abilities, recruiting sidekicks, learning new powers and taking down boss characters, all culminating in one of a selection of endings.
Neon City Riders launches digitally on March 12 for PS4, PC, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
