I was both excited and scared when I learned Harmonix would be swinging by the studio last week to show off some of Dance Central 3‘s new Story mode. Excited at the prospect of upholding my reign of internet humiliation, but scared by the thought of enduring a tacked-on story mode for a game that really doesn’t need one to begin with. Whatever your opinion on the matter, make no mistake: Dance Central 3 is fun as hell.
After my demo, I grabbed the game’s Lead Designer and Harmonix Project Director, Matt Boch, to chat about their motivation for adding a story mode, as well as the hot new tracks you can expect to hear, the fun (and weird!) mini-games that go along with them, and whether or not I should be a contestant on next season’s Dancing With the Stars. (Spoiler alert: I totally should be!)
