DSCfix sounds like a godsend
After Durante’s remarkable DSfix for Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition on PC, I wasn’t sure if anyone else would step up to the plate to further improve From Software’s acclaimed action-RPG. Released earlier this week, M0tah’s DSCfix sounds like a definitive mod for those of you who are actively playing with friends in either co-op or PvP and know how much of a headache that can be.
“It is an interception DLL intended to be used with DSfix and functions by adding any online GFWL friends to your P2P connection pool before searching for random peers,” writes creator M0tah. “This means that direct connections to friends are established right away, whereas in vanilla Dark Souls this only happens after the first successful summon or invasion (if you were even lucky to get that far).”
Early reports seem to indicate that DSCfix works as intended, though a word of warning: it’s plausible that one could be banned from Games for Windows Live for using something like this. I have not yet had a chance to try this out myself, but personally, I wouldn’t be too worried. Definitely one to watch.
