Dead by Daylight current Tome reveals a young and surprisingly attractive Deathslinger

You’d lose more chases if he looked like this.

The fourth page in Dead by Daylight‘s Tome 18: Revision was unlocked this week, allowing players to complete the final set of challenges and see the last journals and cutscenes of story hidden within it, and they can’t get enough of one individual’s lore.

One of the scenes this Tome holds is the backstory of a young Caleb Quinn, also known as The Deathslinger. It shows his days in Hellshire Prison as a young man, where he revealed his penchant for skewering people before being given more tools to refine his methods. The player base has been taken by surprise by just how attractive this grotesque Killer looked before his murderous rage was indulged and The Entity got a hold of him.

While the final page of Dead by Daylight‘s Tome 18: Revision was unlocked this week, it’s taken a while for this cutscene to circulate among the community. Most players likely won’t unlock it until the weekend. For those watching it now, thanks to a recent Reddit post, it’s awakening feelings they didn’t know they had.

Even I have to admit that Caleb Quinn looks pretty good – similar to what Silent Hill 4: The Room‘s Walter Sullivan does before you realize what he’s been doing to people. Quinn’s facial scar is a light line here, and his piercing eyes, even if it’s just the art style, make it feel like he could stare into your soul and know you without you uttering a single word.

Fans are discovering feelings for this Killer that they didn’t know they had before this page of the Tome was unlocked. As user Princesscooler puts it, “Oh he’s very handsome.” I’m sure a few more Survivors will let The Deathslinger catch them in Dead by Daylight now, just to let him know they like him.

This cutscene has sparked more than just a conversation about how good-looking the Killer is, though. Fans now also know more about his backstory than ever before. At the time the cutscene takes place, he’s 20-25 years old and is taken by The Entity in 1860 when the Wild West he’s so clearly themed around was just starting to take off.

After impaling another prisoner early on in his Hellshire Prison stay, he was given additional resources to craft torture devices by the warden. This fuelled his desire to create the impaling firearm we’re all so fond of in the game. the part of his backstory that turns my stomach the most is how he worked on his prototype by shooting random people and seeing how many times he accidentally pulled out their guts instead of pulling their entire bodies.

I think it’s fascinating how the lore behind Dead by Daylight‘s characters can completely change them in anyone’s eyes. Before today, The Deathslinger was an annoying Killer with a face I couldn’t stand to look at so avoided it at all costs. Now, though, I feel almost sympathetic for him, even if he will try to pull my Survivor’s guts out the next time I play. I’m sure all the new Deathslinger stans will be out in full force when I jump in over the weekend.
