Dead by Daylight‘s update 7.7.0 has been live in the game’s Public Test Build (PTB) for a couple of weeks now. Today, developer Behaviour Interactive has announced reversions for many of the most impactful changes based on player feedback.
Based on its time in the PTB, Behaviour Interactive is making a slew of changes before Dead by Daylight Update 7.7.0 moves to the live servers. While this is often the case with the game’s updates after players have experimented in the PTB, these changes seem much larger than with previous updates, perhaps a testament to the process. Obviously, it’s hard to account for unintended consequences and player reactions.

The patch notes detail a few of the bolder decisions in the PBT reverting, and impacting Killers like The Twins and The Blight. Both were knocked down a notch, after playing too overpowered in the PTB.
Now, for The Twins, the Killer will behave more like it does in the game already, with a few minor improvements that will make it more viable, but not that PTB unbeatable. As my main Killer, I’m excited to see the faster switching time in action while retaining the ability to have Victor latch onto Survivors.
Many complaints about The Blight focused on two of its Add-Ons, so these are being reverted. However, its collision detection is being improved, which should make it a more viable option for Killer players. I’ve always found this Killer to be almost impossible to play as, but these changes are a step in the right direction.
The other reversions to Dead by Daylight update 7.7.0 are related to Perks. First is Decisive Strike, which has been a big topic of discussion in the community. The only change being made is the removal of a new animation that saw Survivors stab Killers when they broke free. This actually slowed down the escape process, negating the intended improvement, so the animation is gone. Everything else about Decisive Strike’s changes will remain as they were in the PTB, though.
Finally, the Ultimate Weapon Perk is now based on a locker’s position instead of the Killer’s. This alters the way it functions to make it a decent option for any Killer build, regardless of mobility. What Behaviour Interactive noticed is that only high-mobility Killers were opting to use it, so this should make the spread of Ultimate Weapon Perks a bit more even.
Overall, fans are pleased with these changes, which should be rolled out into the live game by the end of the month. Of course, it’s impossible to please everybody, so a few players are complaining about the massive nerf to the overpowered version of The Twins. I think the game would be unplayable without these reversions, though.
