Year 9 for Dead by Daylight has officially begun, and it might well be the biggest year in the game’s history. With a Dungeons & Dragons and Castlevania Chapter, it’s hard to say what out of everything revealed so far could top the start of the game’s year for new content.
Every year, developer Behaviour Interactive keeps Dead by Daylight players updated with the new Chapters, Tomes, events, and more it has planned for the game. Ahead of the game’s 8th Anniversary livestream, fans were shown the roadmap for May 2024, but now we have a much more detailed outline of what’s coming to the asymmetrical horror game over the next 12 months or so.
Dead by Daylight Year 9 roadmap
Below, I’ve listed all the new Chapters, events, Tomes, and everything else coming to Dead by Daylight in Year 9. I’ll add to this list as new content is revealed or added so that anyone can use it to quickly check what’s coming to the game.
Dead by Daylight Chapter 32: Dungeons & Dragons – 6 June, 2024
Dead by Daylight Chapter 32: Dungeons & Dragons may be the biggest Chapter the game will ever see in terms of franchise popularity. It adds a new Killer, Survivor, map, and twists the traditional gameplay in a D&D-themed way to make playing against Vecna, the new Killer, thrilling every time. The Chapter will be released on June 6, 2024, and kick Year 9 off with a bang.
Twisted Masquerade event – 13 June, 2024
The Twisted Masquerade event will kick off in Dead by Daylight in June 2024. This annual anniversary event allows players to earn cosmetic rewards by logging in and playing an event game with twists on the standard Trial game mode.
Dead by Daylight Chapter 33: licensed Survivor – July 2024
Behaviour Interactive explained that Chapter 33 of Dead by Daylight would add a licensed Survivor who embodies the meaning of that role. I have no idea who that could be, but after D&D, it could be any licensed property on the planet.
Tome 20 – July 2024
Hot on the heels of the D&D Chapter, Dead by Daylight will get a new Tome, Tome 20, alongside another Rift Pass. This will add new challenges for players to complete and offer a wide array of cosmetics to earn for free from the game’s Premium Rift Pass.
New game mode – July 2024
Dead by Daylight will be getting a new game mode in July 2024. I have no idea what this could be, but a new game mode means that it will be permanent and fit alongside the game’s basic Trials.
Dead by Daylight Chapter 34: Licensed Killer and Survivor – August 2024
The Castlevania Chapter for Dead by Daylight was teased during the game’s 8th Anniversary livestream event as what’s likely to be August’s chapter update. I think it’s pretty safe to guess who those characters will be, but I’ll let you wonder who they are. We were told during the event that we’ll learn more about this Chapter on August 6, 2024, so hopefully we get more info – including a launch date – then.
Modifier – September 2024
In September 2024, Dead by Daylight fans will be getting a new Modifer event. I’m not entirely sure what this is, but it could be the trial for the 2v8 mode. This game mode will eventually be permanent, but it will be a Modifer event first to help get feedback from the community.
Tome 21 – October 2024
Tome 21 will hit Dead by Daylight in October 2024. With Chapter 34 likely being a licensed Chapter, it might be difficult for this Tome to offer much in the way of cosmetics as would normally be the case. It will add a new Rift Pass with cosmetics to earn, but who they are for won’t be known until closer to the time.
In-game event – October 2024
October 2024 is a packed month for Dead by Daylight, with the game getting another time-limited event. Sometimes, these follow an annual pattern; sometimes, they don’t. 2024 will already be out of sync with the 2v8 game mode, so we’ll need to wait and see what this in-game event ends up being.
Dead by Daylight Chapter 35: Original Killer & Survivor – December 2024
Dead by Daylight Chapter 35 will be an original Chapter with a Killer and Survivor created by Behaviour Interactive. The last original Chapter, All Things Wicked, was the game’s most popular to date at the time, so I have no doubt that this one will be incredibly popular too. Considering that The Casting of Frank Stone is due to be released in 2024, this Chapter could be closely linked.
In-game event – December 2024
Bone Chill will always be the in-game event in Dead by Daylight around the holiday period. In this event, players can earn Christmas-themed cosmetics from Trials and through a time-limited event Tome. Bone Chill’s mechanics change each year, so 2024 will see a slight twist to keep things fresh.
Tome 22 – January 2025
Tome 22 will almost certainly have a Rift Pass with cosmetics that are mostly for the new original Killer and Survivor added to Dead by Daylight in Chapter 35. This could be good or bad, depending on how that Chapter is received.
Dead by Daylight Chapter 36: Licensed Killer – March 2025
The first Chapter for Dead by Daylight in 2025 will add a licensed Killer. We’re so far from this Chapter that there aren’t even rumors as to who it could be. Again, after D&D, Behaviour Interactive could go anywhere with this. I have a vague hope we might finally get a Predator Chapter, but that’s probably wishful thinking.
In-game event – March 2025
As with most of 2025, we’re so far away that I can’t even begin to think about what the first in-game event of the year could be.
Dead by Daylight Chapter 37: Original Survivor – April 2025
The last Dead by Daylight Chapter of Year 9 will be a new original Survivor character. This type of chapter is somewhat rare in the game, with Hour of the Witch being the last one to add an original Survivor. She’s a fantastic Survivor, though, so finally getting another Chapter along the same lines is an exciting prospect.
Tome 23 – April 2025
The last Tome of Dead by Daylight Year 9, Tome 23, launches in April 2025. Chapter 37 will be an original Survivor, so there’s a good chance this Tome will focus on that new character as well as a few others from throughout the year.
