Just another day in a zombie-infested paradise
A long-in-development zombie game is back in action, and arriving early next year. Dead Island 2 will launch on February 3, 2023.
During today’s Gamescom Opening Night Live 2022, Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios revealed a cinematic trailer for Dead Island 2. It features plenty of zombie-slaying action, and one of the game’s playable characters, Jacob.
We also got a look at some gameplay for Dead Island 2, which features a ton of the bloody first-person action seen in the first Dead Island.
Players will be able to play as one of six different characters including Jacob. Each one has their own style and skills, and you can instantly re-spec if you don’t like the build you’re putting together.
The story takes place in Los Angeles, with locations around the city including Beverly Hills and Venice Beach.
You can play the adventure by yourself, or opt to do some co-op. Up to three players can party up and blast through hordes of zombies together.
Rise from the grave
Dead Island 2 has been kicking around in some form or another for quite a while. We got some indication earlier this year that a Dead Island 2 launch could be set for 2023, and it looks like that’s panned out.
While the news did leak a little bit ahead of schedule, it looks like the zombie-crushing, weapon-crafting action of Dead Island is due back soon. The original was a goofy, decent enough zombie-smasher with some light RPG elements and good co-op fun. While the successor to the series has been mired in development for quite a few years, we’ll at least finally get a chance to see what a new Dead Island looks like soon.
Dead Island 2 will launch for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Stadia on February 3, 2023.
