It’s the announcement we’ve all been waiting for (ie, we’ve all known about for ages). Today, Electronic Arts and Visceral Games have officially announced Dead Space 2 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Isaac Clarke returns once again to fend off the Necromorph horde in a story that will apparently see him “call the shots” from now on.
New weapons, a “huge cast of twisted, disgusting monsters” and plenty of plot twists are all being promised, as is the return of Zero-G environmental chicanery and, of course, Isaac’s trusty limb-shredding plasma cutter. All good stuff, I think you’ll agree.
No release date yet, of course, but it’s fairly safe to say we’ll be tearing Necromorph heads off again in the latter half of 2010. For now, hit the jump for the official press release. All that remains is the question — are your pants suitably clean enough for more sh*t-your-pants space slaughter?
Guildford, UK – December 7, 2009 – Visceral Games, an Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) studio announced today that the award-winning Dead Space™ franchise will continue to frighten gamers with its stunning sequel, Dead Space 2. Isaac Clarke returns for another heart-pounding adventure, taking the fight to the Necromorphs in this thrilling action-horror experience. New tools to gruesomely slice and dismember the Necromorphs complement Isaac’s signature plasma cutter, empowering him as he meets new characters, explores epic zero-G environments, and fights against a relentless Necromorph onslaught. Survival isn’t the only thing on Isaac’s mind in Dead Space 2 – this time, he calls the shots.
