Well, it looks like more Death Stranding is on the way. Norman Reedus, star of The Walking Dead TV series who played Sam “Porter” Bridges in Death Stranding, seems to have just confirmed a part two in a new interview.

In an interview with LeoEdit (spotted by GamerUP), Reedus is asked about filming for the Death Stranding video game. To which he responds, “We just started the second one.”

In a follow-up question, Reedus tells the story of how he and Hideo Kojima met through mutual friend Guillermo Del Toro. He describes seeing an early version of Kojima’s Silent Hill project. Reedus committed and well, the rest is long, fraught video game history.

“It took me maybe two or three years to finish all the MoCap sessions and everything,” said Reedus. “It takes a lot of work. And then the game came out, and it just won all these awards, and it was a huge thing, so we just started part two of that.”

Well, that certainly reads like two confirmations of a new Death Stranding.

Bridging the gap

Kojima has teased a bit about his next project in the past. In June 2020, he posted some images of his workspace as he worked on a new title with Yoji Shinkawa, one of his longtime collaborators. Fans at the time even spotted the word “Bridges” on some concept art.

But Kojima has also been rumored to up to several different projects. A report indicated he was working with Microsoft for an Xbox game. And he also told Famitsu that his next project is a big title that is a “new challenge.”

Death Stranding did get a Director’s Cut last year, adding new content and tools for Sam to make the journey across America. We haven’t had any indication of a sequel until now though. But according to Norman Reedus, I guess we can look forward to a possible new Death Stranding.
