Release the hounds
In Act 2 of Diablo 4 you’ll square off against Astaroth: one of the most unique boss fights in the entire series. Sadly, it’s bugged throughout the weekend of the launch, and is occasionally preventing players from completing it. Here’s how to fix it and finish out Act 2.
If you get stuck fighting Astaroth (finishing the As the World Burns quest): quit, then fight it again
Sometimes when fighting Astaroth, some players (myself included!) have reported that the end of the battle will glitch out. Translation: the boss appears to be dead, but quest progress will be locked out, and Act 2 never actually completes. To fix this, quit in the boss arena, reload your save file, and retry the fight using the following instructions.
After reloading your file, you’ll be at the nearby hub ready to go back into the den of Astaroth for another round. Finish the fight as normal, but be very cognizant of where you kill the boss at the end. If it’s near a wall upon death, it could bug your game. Try to lure it into the middle of the final arena as best you can (tanking or dodging it throughout), then unleash all of your cooldowns on it when it’s in a safe spot.
If you’ve killed Astaroth and your game isn’t bugged, an NPC will run up to you for a quick chat: and then after a short jog, you’ll have completed Act 2.
If Blizzard releases a proper fix for this bug, we’ll give you an update!
