It wouldn’t be a new season of Diablo 4 without a new game mechanic that’s almost a Helltide event. In Season 3 Arcane Tremors are the go-to places to farm the most important items of the season, which can be used to power up your Seneschal construct.
Unlike last season’s Blood Harvest zones or the base game’s Helltides, Arcane Tremors don’t move around the map throughout the day. Instead they surround the various Vaults where Zoltun Kulle once did his best work. Arcane Tremors are marked on the map with the same green leaf that indicates seasonal quests, and if you zoom in on them you’ll notice a number of smaller icons showing you various elemental obelisks and braziers throughout the zone. Those are what you really want to pay attention to.
Farming Tremors
Arcane Tremors are densely packed with mobs of enemies, and you’ll find an overwhelming amount of hostile constructs patrolling the area. That makes them a great place to farm Shattering Stones for your Seneschal. On top of the loot you can grab from enemies, obelisks marked on your map drop Elemental Cores. Gelid Obelisks shoot waves of ice energy, and Voltaic Obelisks shoot fire, but if you can avoid the attacks long enough to interact with the obelisk, it will spit out a core and draw in a wave of constructs for you to fight.
After you’ve gathered a handful of Elemental Cores, you can take them to one of the braziers marked on your map in the Arcane Tremor area. These are points where you can trade in three Elemental Cores and fifty Shattered Stones to summon another massive wave of enemies. At the end of the wave, you’ll face off against a giant demon called a Herald of Malphas. Beating that boss will give you important seasonal loot like Governing Stones and Pearls of Warding, both of which can be used to upgrade your Seneschal with new and more powerful abilities.
There’s no shortage of things to do in Diablo 4, but Arcane Tremors are something to focus on when you don’t have an active seasonal quest and/or when you need more Governing and Tuning Stones for your Seneschal. Whispers can also spawn in these areas, so sometimes you can kill three birds – or, um, constructs – with one stone. Especially early on, farming these areas is one of the best ways to level up while also collecting important materials to unlock all the different build options for your Seneschal before you really start committing to a specific build for endgame content.
