Even though Diablo 4 typically releases new seasons on a quarterly schedule, Season 4 has undergone a slight delay due to massive changes and the first-ever Diablo 4 PTR for testing purposes. As such, the Diablo 4 Season 4 release date and exact release time are a bit further away than usual.
What day and time does Diablo 4 Season 4 start?
The new Diablo 4 Season 4 release date is May 14, 2024 with the exact start time of 10am PST. Everytime there is a new season, the previous season ends on the same day that the new season begins. Unlike similar ARPG’s like Path of Exile, there is no downtime between the seasons. As you can see in the screenshot above, Diablo 4 Season 3, Season of the Construct, is scheduled to end on May 14. This means that is when the new season will start as well. Diablo 4 Seasons start at the same time globally, so here are the launch times for other timezones:
- May 14, 10am PST
- May 14, 1pm EST
- May 14, 6pm GMT
- May 14, 7pm CET
- May 15, 3am JST
What can we expect with Diablo 4 Season 4?
As with all seasons, we can expect Diablo 4 Season 4 to have its own unique seasonal mechanic and feature. Season 3 had a pretty underwhelming mechanic, which was the constructs. However, Blizzard has yet to release the seasonal mechanic for Diablo 4 Season 4.
However, we do already know there are some bigger core changes coming to Diablo 4 in Season 4 based on the PTR. Here are some of the changes we can expect in Diablo 4 Season 4:
- Reworked Itemization – Quality of quantity is the new focus for itemization in DIablo 4, reducing the number of total affixes, making the potent affixes pool smaller while adding more relevant affixes.
- New Tempering crafting system – A new crafting system called Tempering allows deterministic crafting to add affixes at the Blacksmith using Temper Manuals.
- Greater Affixes – ANcestral Legendary and Unique Items can now receive Greater Affixes which have a 1.5x multiplier on the affix’s maximum roll.
- Masterworking – A new late-game crafting system allows you to upgrade your best items using materials gathered in The Pit, improving current affixes so you don’t have to risk rerolling.
- Revamped content – Helltides and Accursed Rituals have been reworked to be permanent and more rewarding, and accessible in World Tier 1 and World Tier 2.
Overall there are some pretty hefty fundamental changes coming in Diablo 4 Season 4. With a well-done seasonal mechanic, this could easily turn out to be the best season of Diablo 4 yet.
