An MMO-style Diablo world doesn’t come cheap
Blizzard Entertainment is taking the beloved Diablo action RPG series into a new direction with Diablo 4, with a massive open world filled with public events and plenty of other players to interact with. Besides a persistent internet connection, here are the Diablo 4 minimum and recommended system requirements to run it on PC.
Diablo 4 minimum system requirements, explained
For players who wish to dive into the fourth adventure in the world of Sanctuary in Diablo 4, you’ll need a decently hefty PC. Here are the PC minimum system requirements to run the game:
- OS: 64-bit Windows 10
- Processor: Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD FX-8100
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon R9 280
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: SSD with 45 GB available space
- Internet: Broadband Connection
These requirements aren’t the worst. That said, if you only have up to these settings, your experience will be severely diminished. Blizzard noted that players with only the minimum PC requirements will have reduced performance, visuals, and frame rate.
In general, players with only the above specs on their computer will have up to a 1080p native resolution and 720p rendered resolution. In addition, they’ll only be able to have up to 30 frames-per-second and that’s on low graphical settings.
While it is possible to play the game with settings less than those, it will be borderline unplayable or unenjoyable, and Blizzard warns against doing this.
Diablo 4 recommended system requirements, explained
On the other hand, you’re going to want to have at least the Diablo 4 recommended system settings if you want to have a baseline solid experience. Here are the recommended system requirements your PC should meet:
- OS: 64-bit Windows 10
- Processor: Intel Core i5-4670K or AMD R3-1300X
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX 470
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: SSD with 45 GB available space
- Internet: Broadband Connection
These system requirements are fairly standard for a 2023 game, but slightly beefier than even a recent online game like Warzone 2.0. The RAM requirement is especially notable, given that it takes at least 16GB RAM to enjoy Diablo 4 the way it is intended.
If your computer has the above recommended specs, you should be able to play the game at an expected 60FPS. However, even then, there are some conceits you’ll need to have that frame rate. The game will only be playable with that performance at 1080p and with only medium settings on.
If you wish to see Diablo 4 in a higher resolution or with the settings maxed out, you’ll need a much more powerful rig when the game comes out on June 6, 2023.
