Director’s Cut of the Metal Gear Solid V trailer debuts

Watch for an extra scene they didn’t want to show during the conference

A new Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain trailer dubbed the “Extended Director’s Cut” is out, and it’s not for the faint at heart. Just as I expected, the “mature” material Kojima was referring to in the past will involve child soldiers (who are actually viewable near the end of the trailer, and not just talked about like in previous games), and graphic torture — with tons of gore to boot in the first few minutes of this cut.

After that extra intro, the trailer picks up as normal, and just like the debut E3 video, things are looking really good. We get a glimpse of some familiar franchise characters as well as some intriguing new ones, and the gameplay looks stellar. I’m interested to learn more about Skull Face and some of the action-based nuances like dolphin diving and the new CQC system.

From Snake’s new voice actor to the open world setup, the new Metal Gear game looks to shake things up like never before.
