Change of pace for the fighting franchise
2016 is starting to feel like the year of Final Fantasy. We have Final Fantasy XV on the way, World of Final Fantasy this October, Dissidia Final Fantasy still going strong in Japan, Mobius Final Fantasy finally got an international release this summer and there’s a theatrical film that may or may not be any good. If you feel you’ve had your fill of Final Fantasy, too bad because Square-Enix isn’t done yet.
During the same live stream where Ace was unveiled for Dissidia Final Fantasy, the publisher announced the spin-off series will be making its debut on mobile with Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia. The Team Ninja-developed title will eschew the fighting formula and instead feature popular characters from the franchise in a classic-style JRPG.
Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia is set to release in Japan this year. No word yet on an international release.
