Now, I don’t expect too many of you to be excited, especially if you’re not British, but DIZZY THE EGG IS COMING BACK!
The ancient mascot of Codemasters (before the studio went a bit rubbish), Dizzy starred in a series of taxing puzzle-adventures on the Commodore 64 and other home computers, most of them revolving around using twisted logic to use random items with other objects and clear obstacles.
A teaser site promises Eggciting News and Codemasters has said that a date for “Eggmergance Day” will be revealed tomorrow. Oh, the egg puns. It’s like the late eighties never stopped happening.
Dizzy: Prince of the Yolk Folk is the very first videogame I ever remember purchasing — or at least getting my grandmother to purchase. I still remember picking it out of the cassette rack in WH Smith, back when cassette games still appeared in places other than suitcases in the back of someone’s car. The series therefore is quite special to me, and I am thrilled at the idea of him coming back.
