Tears of the Kingdom‘s open world give players the freedom to experiment and play with the many tools at Link’s disposal. From fusing weapons to building contraptions, Hyrule is the oyster for players’ creativity.

However, it feels like the world’s items and weapons are especially finite, and with hours upon hours of gameplay to keep players busy, the constant building and combat have Link frequently running out of weapons and tools for his adventure. This begs the question; do weapons and items respawn in TOTK?

Do Weapons and Items Respawn in TOTK?

The short answer is… Yes! Weapons and items do respawn over time, allowing players to re-find particularly favorable weapons when they’re running short on shields and swords, as well as any useful items such as Bomb Flowers, or building materials for their contraptions.

How does it work? Turns out, all of the items (shops and naturally spawning), weapons, and enemies, are tied to one mechanic, the Blood Moon. Every seven in-game days in TOTK, the blood moon will rise, and while it’s perfect to max out cooking effects while it rises, it also respawns every enemy in the world. However, also returning to the game world are any weapons Link has picked up, as well as any items Link has found on his journey. This doesn’t, however, include any items or weapons found in chests. So, you can’t grind out bosses in the Depths to get more than one prize from a chest.

With this in mind, if that Royale Claymore is about to break, just know you can find it in the same spot if you wait a few in-game days, just remember that you’re going to have to fight all the monsters you defeated if you want to get your hands on it again!
