I want to know
It looks like I sparked a discussion yesterday in my recent article on Sonic Adventure 2‘s twisted backstory. I drew a line in the sand between the first Sonic Adventure and the sequel, and a debate started up, comparing both titles. I already made my intentions clear, in that I thought the original game was better, but I’ll elaborate a bit.
While Adventure 2 had more variety, with stark contrasts in styles to mirror the character shifts, the original game felt more like a true 3D successor to the original games. From the very first zone I was enamored, and it really felt like a Green Hill Zone for a new generation. Sure the exploration bits were awkward at the time, and they still are, but once I jumped into a new stage I was ready to go.
That’s not to say that Adventure 2 was a wash though. It still had a lot of great bits in the Sonic and Shadow portions, and the Knuckles and Rouge areas were a ton of fun, especially in multiplayer.
Let’s settle this once and for all below.
