Dragon’s Dogma 2 co-op would be a dream as the first game’s AI was hard to deal with. Even a friend with little RPG experience would be better than the pests who joined your party in the last game.
Will there be Dragon’s Dogma 2 co-op?
Alas, it seems like Dragon’s Dogma 2 co-op won’t be a thing. The Steam listing for this RPG adventure says that it’s a single-player game only. You can see it in the tags on the right side.
This means we’ll be sticking with the game’s AI again. If you haven’t played the first game, you create your own pawn who assists you in battle. Then, you can hire two other pawns from other players. It’s an element of the game that makes it unique and will net your pawns experience while you’re away. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has a similar feature.
Even if the game is multiplayer, it will be a challenge because it’s currently not on Game Pass. Your friends would have needed to buy Dragon’s Dogma 2 at full price. They likely would have had to upgrade their PC, too, if they played games on that system.
What are the pawns like in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Pawns seem like they’re adding levity to the dark world of Dragon’s Dogma 2. “Just like the first game, they’ll hit you with cheesy canned lines whether you’re exploring and in combat,” said Timothy Monbleau in our preview. “And make no mistake, Dragon’s Dogma 2 unapologetically leans on the camp in this regard.” The sequel is staying true to the humor of the first game.
“I had no clue where I was going,” Mobleau said while talking about their interactions with the pawns. “But these moments added an air of levity that made exploration feel lively and silly in equal measure.” Fingers crossed the AI is vastly improved over the original game.
