Dating and romance options in Hogwarts Legacy…
If you were hoping to gradually build up meaningful long-term character romances as part of your role-playing experience in Hogwarts Legacy, you might find yourself more than a bit disappointed. Avalanche Software has confirmed that romance has been taken off the table for this particular installment, citing the difficulty of managing such a system within the game and the fact the featured characters are underage. So no Hogwarts Legacy romance for you. This is an entirely understandable position for the developer to take. Still, it will definitely disappoint at least some fans who may have hoped to take full advantage of the roleplaying opportunities offered therein.
The official Hogwarts Legacy FAQ page elaborates on the companion system currently present in the game, including specifically the limits of what players might come to expect from it:
“Some students at Hogwarts will become friends. As players grow these relationships, these schoolmates will become companions who can accompany players on their journey, expand their abilities and open up as players learn their stories.”
Relationships come in all forms, not all of them romantic…
There will be plenty of meaningful opportunities to develop deep emotional bonds with your companion characters, and have them accompany you as you venture both throughout the castle, as well as the wider wizarding world that surrounds the Hogwarts grounds if that’s what you’re after. However, any further exploration of those relationships will be left to fans’ unofficial headcanon and all the accompanying types of fanart that is, perhaps, best not further mentioned.
