This train mostly hosts lone travelers
Hoyoverse’s next live service game is upon us, as Honkai: Star Rail is accepting new passengers. The free-to-play RPG will have plenty of characters to roll for and choose from, but teaming them up with other players’ squads is a different story.
Multiplayer is considered a fairly important part of most free-to-play games. So where does it fit into the world of Honkai: Star Rail?
Does Honkai: Star Rail have multiplayer or co-op?
The short answer is no, Honkai: Star Rail does not have multiplayer, and doesn’t have co-op in the traditional sense.
There is the Support system, which will be immediately familiar to those who have played gacha games before. This allows players, including those on your friends list, to lend you units for support during certain activities. This can be a huge boon in knocking out the tasks you need to complete on any given day.
There does not seem to be, at this time of writing, any plans for multiplayer or co-op modes though.
For Genshin Impact players, this may come as a bit of a surprise. Whether adventuring with friends or competing in “prop hunt” minigames, there are a few multiplayer options in Hoyoverse’s previous title.
How Supports work in Honkai: Star Rail
Your one primary method of interacting with players is through the friends list, where you can still add players you’d like to keep in touch with, and through the Support system. Just add someone as a friend, then make sure you have a character set in your Trailblazer Profile as a Support option.
This will make your character available to them and vice versa. The option will be available for activities like Calyxes and the Cavern of Corrosion challenges, and tasks they complete with your Support will net you Credits too. It’s a win-win all around.
