The path you take cannot be taken again
Octopath Traveler 2 is a long, long game with a myriad of secrets to uncover. There’s so much to unlock that you might want to run through the game again using your overpowered characters. While many RPGs like to indulge in a good ol’ fashioned New Game Plus mode, Octopath Traveler 2 did not see fit to include this feature.
It’s true, Octopath Traveler 2 does not include a New Game Plus mode. However, that’s not to say there is no reward at the end of the game.
What happens after you beat Octopath Traveler 2?
Once you complete every protagonist’s core storyline and every Crossed Path quest, you’ll unlock the final chapter of your tale. This will bring you to an epic confrontation against those who deny the dawn, which will decide the fate of Solistia.
After you complete the final boss, the game won’t be over just yet. You’ll have to manually trigger the epilogue, which will lead to the game’s ending and credits sequences. However, if you aren’t ready for your journey to end, you can still freely explore and clean up any quests you might have missed. There is even an incredibly powerful foe waiting for you if you know where to look.
Once you finally decide to conclude the game, you won’t unlock an option for New Game Plus. However, you will find your title screen decorated in honor of what you’ve accomplished. It’s a small touch, but it is acknowledgement of the journey you took with the eight travelers. It’s disappointing that there aren’t other bonuses to unlock, but that bittersweet feeling means you enjoyed the tale while it lasted.
