Tomb Raider Remastered does have modern controls

If you’ve played the original Tomb Raider games in the past few years, you’ll know the controls haven’t aged well. Will Tomb Raider Remastered have modern controls to counter this plaguing issue?

Can you play Tomb Raider Remastered with modern controls?

Thankfully, developer and publisher Aspyr has implemented modern controls into all three of the remastered Tomb Raider games.

“For our modern controller settings, we take inspiration from the Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld era of Tomb Raider,” said Aspyr’s director of product Chris Bashaar on the PlayStation Blog. “These changes are felt mostly in the way Lara moves – the right stick has full camera control and Lara moves directionally based on camera position.”

Those who want the classic tank controls to make the game feel authentic can switch to them in the options menu. Additionally, you can alternate between the modern remaster and the classic polygonal graphical styles.

“As shown in our initial reveal, we’ve added new models for a consistent modern look and feel,” said Bashaar. “We’re excited to showcase how these PS1 environments would look with modern technologies and tools.”

The game will look even better with Nvidia RTX Remix enabled as it will activate ray tracing.

What other features does Tomb Raider Remastered have?

There have been many quality-of-life changes to Tomb Raider I-III Remastered. First, there are now boss health bars, so you’ll know which weapons are most effective.

Next, there are 3D items instead of the sprites shown in the original. There will also be 200 in-game trophies to earn for your in-game actions and a photo mode so you can share your feats on social media. The pose, face, outfit, and weapon can be changed while in the photo mode.
