XDefiant devs won’t rule it out.

Search and Destroy is a staple in Call of Duty and its competitive scene, and players may want to know if there is a similar game mode in XDefiant.

Since the start of Call of Duty, Search and Destroy has been in every title. The goal of the game mode is for the attacking side to either eliminate the defending team, or arm and detonate one of the two bomb sites. Meanwhile, the defending team can either defuse the bomb (once planted) or take out all of the attackers. Players only have one life per round, and the first team who wins six rounds emerges victorious. Along the way, there have been a few different variations of the game mode, but the core principles have always been the same.

Other FPS titles have similar game modes, leading to the question of whether or not it will be in XDefiant.

There is no Search and Destroy mode in XDefiant or any similar game mode. However, a player asked on Twitter if a search-and-destroy mode would ever be added, and XDefiant executive producer Mark Rubin confirmed that the game mode would be added in a future update.

After a six-week pre-season period, XDefiant will release a new seasonal update every three months to add new weapons, maps, events, and factions. Throughout the title’s first year, there will be four new factions, 12 weapons, 12 maps, and more modes and features.

Ubisoft also confirmed that an official Ranked Mode will be added in a future update. With that in mind, a Search and Destroy game mode could potentially be the perfect game mode to complement the other potential offerings in a competitive setting.
