Making things explode is not the goal for once
Sun’s out, guns out. Beta’s out, PC minimum and recommended specs out. Not as catchy, twice as important.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War open beta is nearly upon us and that means it’s time to figure out if your rig can handle the rigors of war. Activision has revealed the beta’s minimum and recommended specs (which should serve more or less as the full game’s final specs with the possible exception of storage space).
Here’s what’s needed to just get the Cold War beta running:
Minimum specs:
- OS: Windows 7 64-bit (SP1) or Windows 10 64-bit (1803 or later)
- CPU: Intel Core i5-2500k or AMD equivalent
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 with 2GB VRAM / GTX 1650 with 4GB VRAM / AMD Radeon HD 7950
- Memory: 8GB RAM
- Storage: 45GB
- Network: Broadband internet connection
- Sound card: DirectX compatible, requires DirectX 12 compatible system
As always, the caliber’s a bit bigger for ideal performance:
Recommended specs:
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit (latest service pack)
- CPU: Intel Core i7-4770k or AMD equivalent
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 with 4GB VRAM / GTX 1660 Super with 6GB VRAM / AMD Radeon R9 390 / AMD RX 580
- Memory: 16GB RAM
- Storage: 45GB
- Network: Broadband internet connection
- Sound card: DirectX compatible, requires DirectX 12 compatible system
The main draw to participating in the open beta (apart from playing a high-profile game weeks before launch) is that anyone who reaches level 10 will get a blueprint for the Mutual Animosity SMG in the full game.
Here’s the schedule for times the beta goes live, ripped straight off of the Call of Duty site because that’s far less confusing:
Now that you have all the intel, use it at your own discretion. Knowing is half the battle, or something like that.
